CBE face Ethiopia Coffee in League season opener

Ethiopia Premier League Champions, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia will face Ethiopian Cup winners, Ethiopia Coffee in the first week of the next season.

The 2024/25 Ethiopia Premier League fixtures released in Addis Ababa to herald the state of the hostilities.

All eyes will be on CBE as they attempt to show their remarkable run was not a fluke.

There will be many of the old guard trying to stop them, and their first test will be Ethiopian cup winners Ethiopia Coffee.

The other prime fixture on opening weekend will feature 16 times Ethiopia Premier League champions, St George who take on former Champions, Fasil City.

Last season runners up, Mechal Sports face Wolkite City, and there will be a Roduwa derby on opening weekend as Sidama Coffee take on Hawassa City.

The promoted teams Ethio Electric and Arbaminch City will hope for early starts to avoid the trend of promoted teams getting relegated.

Ethio Electric hosts Wollaita Dicha and Arbaminch City take on Dire Dawa City.

There will be an interesting twist to the new season with the return of three teams who come back to the Ethiopia Premier League after three years hiatus occasioned by the hostilities in the Tigray region.

Mekelle 70 Enderta, Sihul Shire and Wellwalo Adigrat University will relish their return to what has become a much more international League following the broadcast partnership with SuperSport.

Mekelle 70 Enderta will battle Hadiya Hosanna, while Wellwalo Adigrat University face Bahir Dar City, and Sihul Shire host Adama City adding to the twists to what promises to be an exciting season.

The League will start on September 20, 2024. As the league company revealed the season will be held at Dire Dawa stadium.

The 2024/25 Ethiopian Premier League will be contested between 19 team as the three Tigray teams return to the League.

There will be one team in each week who will have a rest and here are the first week of the new season.
