Cameroon have handed a first call-up for Marumo Gallants goalkeeper Emile Lako, who coach David Pagou has named in his 25-man squad for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Comoros and Congo, as well as a friendly against the Ivory Coast.
Lako was signed by Marumo Gallants at the start of the season from Casric Stars, having played in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season.
The 27-year-old from Dynamo Douala is one of four new players in the squad along with Spanish-based striker Bil Nsongo, teenager midfielder Harouna Djibirin from Ligue 1 club Angers and David Nyengue, who plays his club football in Tunisia.
Manchester United winger Bryan Mbeumo is back in their squad after missing their last outings against Australia and China in March.
Cameroon compete in Group G of the 2027 Cup of Nations qualifiers and begin their campaign in Garoua on September 24 against Comoros, after which they take on Congo in Brazzaville on September 29.
The friendly against the Ivory Coast is on October 3 in Abidjan.
