With midweek action in the Motsepe Foundation Championship wrapped on Wednesday afternoon, Kruger United gained crucial traction in their bid for automatic promotion, while The Bees were the biggest winners this week.
To begin with, Kruger United recorded a 2-1 win over Lerumo Lions on Wednesday afternoon, edging out Milford FC for first place.
Kruger needed crucial points heading into their latest league assignment, following their 4-0 loss against Casric Stars on 20 March.
The victory moved Kruger to 43 points after 23 games, two points ahead of second-placed Milford, who drew 1-1 with fellow promotion-chasing side Casric Stars on Wednesday.
Milford, who led the Motsepe Foundation Championship for lengthy periods during the 2025/26 campaign, have struggled to yield consistent results recently, claiming just one win, two draws and two defeats in their last five matches.
The draw caused Casric to fall down the promotion hunt pecking order; they ended the latest game week in fifth position, especially after Cape Town City returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Black Leopards on Tuesday.
As it stands, City moved into third on the log, three points behind table-toppers Kruger United, ending a three-match winless streak that included two stalemates and one defeat.
Elsewhere, The Bees were the biggest winners during the latest list of Motsepe Foundation Championship fixtures following a mammoth 6-1 victory over Gomora United on Tuesday.
The Bees have now stitched together their second consecutive win after recording a 3-0 victory against the University of Pretoria on 22 March.
Also, the Bees’ latest set of wins moved them into ninth position on the table following a sticky run of results during the last couple of weeks.
