Mamelodi Sundowns will finish their Betway Premiership season next Tuesday, giving them a clear run at the African Champions League title after that.
Sundowns will play their final league game against TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Tuesday, May 12, with the match brought forward from its original date of May 16.
The first leg of the Champions League final, which the Confederation of African Football originally set for Friday, May 15, is now to be played at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday, May 17, with a 4pm kickoff time.
Traditionally, the last two rounds of the league campaign see all matches kicking off simultaneously to avoid any team having the advantage of prior knowledge of winning permutations.
But with the Champions League final set for the same weekend as the last two rounds of the domestic league season, Sundowns have had to find alternate dates for their scheduled final two Betway Premiership fixtures.
Their last league game of the season against Polokwane City was moved from May 23 to last Sunday and saw the champions win 3-0.
They have three games left to complete their 30-match programme with Kaizer Chiefs at home on Wednesday and then Siwelele at Atteridgeville on Saturday (both live on SuperSport).
CAF has also confirmed the return leg of the Champions League final against Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces is in Rabat on Sunday, May 24, kicking off at 9pm South African time.
