Egypt claimed a 4-0 win over Botswana in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualification Group C match at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown on Tuesday evening.

The win saw the Pharaohs maintain their lead at the top of the group standings having won their first two matches.

Botswana will lock horns with Cape Verde home and away next month.

It took just five minutes for the visitors to break the deadlock as Trezeguet beat goalkeeper Goitseone Phoko with a decent finish to hand Egypt a 1-0 lead - silencing the home crowd.

The Zebras' defence were struggling to contain the Pharaohs' attackers and Trezeguet grabbed his brace in the 29th minute when the skillful winger netted with a fine finish.

Egypt were leading 2-0 at halftime.

The Pharaohs continued their dominance after the restart and their inspirational captain Mohamed Salah put his name on the score sheet in the 56th minute to make it 3-0 to Egypt.

Botswana launched late attacks as they looked to grab a consolation goal, but they were left vulnerable at the back and Mostafa Fathi grabbed a stoppage time goal to seal Egypt's 4-0 win.
