The Peter Mokaba Stadium will host its first match of the season on Saturday when Sekhukhune United host Marumo Gallants in the Betway Premiership, re-opened for business after fixing the pitch
The Polokwane stadium, built for the 2010 World Cup finals, underwent a pitch refurbishment, forcing all the Polokwane-based teams to play their games at the smaller Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, which sits next door.
It is one of several venues that were not ready to be used at the start of this season in August because of the pitch being unplayable and needing repairs.
Both the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and the Buffalo City Stadium in the Eastern Cape were closed for several weeks at the start of the season, forcing Chippa United to host early season home games in both Durban and Johannesburg.
The Moses Mabhida Stadum in Durban had a similar pitch overhaul and was closed until last month when Durban City played Rukinzo of Burundi there in their African Confederation Cup first round first leg tie.
It was then used for a second time this season for the MTN8 final and City will play there again on Sunday when they host AS Port Louis 2000 of Mauritius in the second round of the Confederation Cup.
The uMhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay has been closed to fix the pitch and what was promised to be a one month closure is already running behind schedule, forcing both Milford and Richards Bay to host their home matches in Durban.
