ZESCO United go top of MTN Super League
ZESCO United moved two points clear at the top of the MTN Super League with a 3-1 victory over old foes Nkana FC on Sunday, a third victory in a row for the side.
ZESCO had to come from behind after struggling Nkana took the lead inside six minutes through a Harrison Chisala penalty.
But after Abraham Siankombo equalised, Enock Sakala scored a brace to take the home side to the victory. Nkala were not helped by a late second booking for Oliver Lumbiya that saw him sent-off three minutes from the end.
Red Arrows also let a lead slip to end up surprise 2-1 losers at Kansanshi Dynamos.
Ricky Banda put Arrows ahead in the first half, but Yanganile Tembo equalised for the home side on the stroke of halftime, and Dave Dana scored what proved the winner early in the second period.
Green Buffaloes and Mutondo Stars played to a 0-0 draw, while Nkwazi and bottom side Trident finished their game that kicked-off on Saturday at 1-1.
The game was interrupted by heavy rain, but the teams returned to finish it off on Sunday morning. There was no change to the score as Fred Mwiche had given Trident a shock early lead but Stephen Mutama equalised for Nkwazi before the rains came.
