Arrows beat rivals to open up commanding lead in MTN Super League
Red Arrows opened up a 10-point lead at the top of the table with a 2-0 victory over second-placed ZESCO United on Thursday and are now odds-on to regain the MTN Super League title they last held in 2021/22.
Arrows look certain to claim a third league title in their history, the other coming in 2004, with such a commanding advantage and only six games to play.
It would also qualify them for next season’s CAF Champions League.
They scored goals in either half through Ricky Banda and Yusuf Saddam and were full value for their win.
In the other game played on Thursday, Green Eagles claimed a 1-0 success over Mufulira Wanderers to leave the home side languishing in the relegation zone, one point from safety.
Ernest Mbewe scored the only goal of the game four minutes from time as Eagles consolidated seventh position.
