Dynamos end Nkwazi’s winning start to MTN Super League season
Champions Power Dynamos have ended the 100 per cent start to the season for Nkwazi FC after claiming a 2-1 victory in their MTN Super League catch-up match on Saturday.
It is a first win of the season for Dynamos after they had had started the campaign with a pair of 0-0 draws, and were 2-0 up in this one by the half-hour mark.
Joshua Mutale scored their first goal of the season on 22 minutes, before Fwayo Tembo added a second shortly afterwards.
Wezzy Kumwenda pulled a goal back for Nkwazi, who had won two from two this campaign, but they could not force an equaliser and the points went to Dynamos.
There was a second game on Saturday too as Red Arrows and MUZA FC played to a 1-1 draw in another catch-up fixture.
Ricky Banda scored early for Red Arrows, who were champions in the 2021/22 season, but Rickson Ng'ambi came off the bench to score a stunning free-kick and rescue a point for MUZA.
All teams have now played three games and Nkwazi stay top of the log with six points, one ahead of no less than eight teams on five.
The matches were played despite the fact Zambia are in action in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday night. They have, however, already secured qualification for the finals in the Ivory Coast next year.
