FC MUZA earn Confederation Cup place in MTN Super League
FC MUZA confirmed their place in the CFA Confederation Cup next season after their 2-1 victory over Zanaco put them clear of the chasing pack in second place in the MTN Super League.
First-half goals from Rickson Ng’ambi and Andrew Phiri handed MUZA a 2-1 success against Zanoaco, who scored via Chiteta Kwalombota.
That result, coupled with the fact that MUZA were awarded the points from their abandoned clash against Red Arrows last month, means they now cannot be caught in second spot.
Newly-crowned champions Power Dynamos showed their class with a 3-0 win over Prison Leopards on Sunday as Zimbabwean striker Thomas Chideu scored a brace and Joshua Mutale got the other.
Also on Sunday, Kansanshi Dynamos completed a 2-1 win over Nchanga Rangers that leaves the latter in the relegation zone going into the final weekend.
They have 36 points, the same number as Nkwazi in safety, but are worse off on goal-difference.
Nkwazi moved out of the bottom four following their 2-2 draw with Lumwana Radiants. Peter Mwangani and Kenneth Kasanga scored for Nkwazi, but a double from Josphat Kasusu, including an equaliser in injury-time, rescued a point for Radiants.
The latter remain in the relegation zone, two points from safety.
ZESCO United claimed a 1-0 win over Nkana FC thanks to a second-half goal from Kelvin Kampamba, while Chilimba Moonga scored the winner for Green Buffaloes at already relegated Buildcon.
In other matches, Akakulubelwa Mwachiaba scored twice for Kabwe Warriors as they beat another relegated side, Chambishi 3-1.
Green Eagles and Red Arrows played to a 2-2 draw and Forest Rangers and NAPSA Stars ended 1-1.
