Nkwazi beat the drop in MTN Super League
The final relegation positions in the MTN Super League have been filled with Lumwana Radiants and Nchanga Rangers confirmed to be playing second-tier football next season.
They join Buildcon and Chambishi among the sides who have been relegated from the Super League, having gone into the final day’s league matches in the bottom four.
Nkwazi FC were the other side with the potential to go down on Saturday, but a 1-0 win for them over Green Eagles ensured their safety. Steven Mutama scored the only goal of the game.
Radiants needed a victory for any chance of survival, though in the end it would not have been enough. They lost 2-1 at home to second-placed FC Muza, whose goals were scored via Sydney Kasanda and Kelvin Mwanza.
Rangers also needed a win to stand a chance and went 1-0 up against Kabwe Warriors but were held to a draw after Mathews Tolopa equalised for the visitors.
Power Dynamos have long been crowned champions this season and just as well as they were thumped 5-1 by Red Arrows, whose title they took.
Felix Bulaya, Saddam Yusuf, Albert Kangwanda (two) and Kebson Kamanga grabbed the goals for Arrows, while the prolific Andy Boyeli grabbed the consolation for Dynamos.
ZESCO United finished in style with a 1-0 win at Forest Rangers, Collins Sikombe scoring the lone goal as they end the campaign in third.
Nkana FC also finished on a high note with a 2-0 win over Kansanshi Dynamos. Obed Masumbuko and Jakob Ngulube grabbed the goals as they finish the season a disappointing ninth.
In other matches, Green Buffaloes defeated Zanaco 2-1, Prison Leopards drew 2-2 with NAPSA Stars and Chambishi thumped Buildcon 4-2 in the battle between the bottom two sides.
