Green Buffaloes earn first win of MTN Super League season
Green Buffaloes picked up a first win of the season when they claimed a 2-1 success at home to NAPSA Stars in the Zambian MTN Super League, but it is now back-to-back defeats for the latter.
Goals either side of halftime from Andrew Mupande and Nicholas Mulilo secured the win for Buffaloes, though the visitors did pull one back through a late penalty.
Both these teams had lost on the opening day last weekend, but Buffaloes have at least got their season up and running.
Kabwe Warriors also claimed a 2-1 win as they defeated promoted Trident, Tapson Kaseba and Christon Jere scored their goals. They had also suffered defeat on the opening weekend.
Zanaco and Forest Rangers played to a 1-1 draw as Quadri Kola put the latter in front before Isaac Shamujompa scored an equaliser for the home side a minute from the end.
The other two games in the Super League on Saturday ended in goalless draws.
Kansanshi Dynamos were held at home by Mufulira Wanderers and promoted Konkola Blades ended 0-0 with visitors Green Eagles.
