Matchday nine of the 2020-21 LaLiga Santander season kicks off Friday, 6 November and runs through to Sunday, 8 November in what is expected to be another exciting round of fixtures in the Spanish league.

All games will surely provide unprecedented entertainment for fans all around the world, however, fixtures you need to be sure not to miss are Elche v Celta de Vigo, FC Barcelona v Real Betis, Atletico Madrid v Cadiz and the final match of matchday nine, Valencia CF v Real Madrid.

There are plenty of titillating games to keep everyone on the edges of their seats, whether at home, at a local bar or while travelling. So, let us preview some of the not-to-be missed match ups this weekend!

It’s exciting fixtures all around Spain during matchday nine.

The first game will be Elche and Celta Vigo, which kicks off on Friday evening. RC Celta will travel to Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero in the hopes of securing the maximum three points – a feat they have not achieved in their last six games. On the other hand, newly-promoted Elche will aim to continue their positive start and keep their spot in the top 10 on the log standings.

Moving on to Saturday’s most anticipated fixture – FC Barcelona v Real Betis will surely be a cracker. Both sides boast players who have donned the jersey of the opponent like Marc Bartra, Xavi Torres and Cristian Tello, but all sentiments will fly out the window when the two clubs clash at the Camp Nou.

With both teams displaying inconsistent performances, they will want to impress and get some much-needed points to build early season momentum.

A game that many may consider a walk in the park for Atletico Madrid, will definitely be a difficult one for the team from the Spanish capital as they face a high-flying Cadiz FC side who have not conceded a goal in their last three games, and even beat Real Madrid 1-0 back in matchday seven.

Atletico can’t afford to take this game lightly, and for their own sake will aim for the maximum points that will keep them in the top four.

The match that will conclude this weekend’s action will be on Sunday night, and will see Real Madrid travel to the Mestalla to face Valencia CF in what is arguably the match of the weekend.

Although this is a clash of teams from opposite ends of the log table, as Madrid sits second and Valencia are 13th, Los Murciélagos may still be eyeing for revenge after their 3-0 loss to Los Blancos in this fixture last season.

African players to keep an eye out on – Will Kondogbia make his debut for Atletico?

With all clubs in action and the league in full throttle, we look forward to seeing African talent gracing the Spanish fields in order to make a difference for their respective clubs.

Elche’s two formidable African talents in Youssouf Kone (Mali) and Omenuke Mfulu (DRC) will look to continue their world-class performances against a Celta Vigo side who boast Ghanaian defender Joseph Aidoo. During the Real Betis v FC Barcelona showdown, we will witness Algeria’s Aïssa Mandi and Paul Akouokou (Ivory Coast) in action for The Green-and-Whites.

On the final day, Real Valladolid defender Jawad El Yamiq (Morocco), Granada’s Yan Brice Eteki (Cameroon) and Ramon Azeez, as well as Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze (Both Nigeria) will be aiming to make a positive impact for their sides.
