2022/23 MTN8 - all you need to know
The MTN8 tournament features the Top Eight teams from the previous season's league and is another unique tournament that offers hope for early silverware.
Played at the start of the new season, four games are all it takes for the winner to grab the eight million rand winner takes all prize. After the quarterfinals, the four remaining teams play a home and away semifinals.
The 2022-23 edition will see Mamelodi Sundowns aim to retain the title they won last season when they beat Cape Town City 3-2 in a shootout after extra time had seen the game locked at 1-1, following goals from Thapelo Morena and Fagrie Lakay.
Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, Stellenbosch, Royal AM, AmaZulu and Cape Town City will all be hoping to clinch the season’s first available piece of silverware. All the matches will be carried live on SuperSport and Showmax Pro.
