Motsepe Foundation Championship table shapes up
In the latest round of Motsepe Foundation Championship, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila headed to the summit of the table following their 2-0 win over Venda Football Academy on Saturday, as the league began to shape up after matchday four.
With league action getting underway on Friday, 16 September, All Stars bagged maximum points in a 2-1 win over Polokwane City at the Bidvest Stadium. Still unbeaten this season, All Stars' win came off the back of two consecutive draws while Polokwane City recorded their first defeat of the campaign.
On Saturday, the University of Pretoria made it two wins on the trot, after their 2-1 victory over Pretoria Callies at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium. Over at the Windhoek Draught Park, Hungry Lions bounced back after last week’s defeat to Uthongathi and recorded a 3-2 win over Platinum City Rovers, who have now lost four games in succession.
TTM’s 2-0 win over Venda Football Academy at the Thohoyandau Stadium took them to the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship table, while Venda succumbed to their second successive defeat.
On Sunday, Cape Town Spurs returned home after beginning their league campaign with three consecutive away ties. It was not a happy return for the Urban Warriors as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of JDR Stars, who have now collected two wins on the spoon.
Baroka maintained their winning form after a 1-0 away win against Black Leopards at the Malamulele Stadium and moved into the top half of the league table in eighth position. Elsewhere, Magesi claimed a 2-1 win over Casric Stars in Pietersburg while MM Platinum and Uthongathi shared the spoils in a 1-1 stalemate at the Bidets Stadium.
