Orbit College and Hungry Lions suffered defeats in the latest round of the Motsepe Foundation Championship, while Maritzburg United moved closer to the top of the table.

The Team of Choice inflicted Orbit College’s third loss of the 2023/24 campaign, following a 3-1 win at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday.

Maritzburg now occupy fourth spot on the log and subsequently narrowed the gap to the top of the pile to just four points.

Moving down a place on the log, Hungry Lions were starved of three points this weekend following their 2-0 loss to Baroka FC at the Global Stadium on Saturday.

The victory saw Baroka extend their unbeaten run to eight games in the league and they are now on a run of two consecutive victories.

Also, Platinum City Rovers bagged only their second win of the 23/24 season this week, which came in the form of a 1-0 victory over Black Leopards at the Isak Steyl Stadium on Friday.

Platinum City Rovers have now moved clear of the drop zone and currently sit in 14th spot on the table.

In yet another frustrating week for Milford and Pretoria Callies, both sides ended the current game week with stalemates to their names.

Casric Stars shared the spoils with Upington City in a 1-1 draw on Saturday, while Pretoria Callies and La Masia fired blanks at the TUT Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
