SuperSport United claimed a 3-1 win over Cape Town City on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the Nedbank Cup Last 32 match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Tuesday night.
As a result, Matsatsantsa joined their Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in the Last 16 of the lucrative competition.
Coach Gavin Hunt's side will now play host to Egypt's Modern Future in the CAF Confederation Cup on 25 February.
City, on the other hand, bowed out of the South African FA Cup after a disappointing loss and coach Eric Tinker will be eager to ensure that his side returns to winning ways when they face SuperSport at home in the league on 28 February.

Having grabbed an assist against Stellenbosch FC on Friday, Share Campbell was once again Matsatsantsa's livewire in the opening exchanges.
The 18-year-old broke the deadlock in the 20th minute to hand SuperSport a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute with Lyle Lakay providing the assist.
However, the Citizens fought back and they managed to level matters through the in-form Khanyisa Mayo in first-half stoppage time.
The left-footed attacker netted his second goal in as many matches to make it 1-1 heading into the halftime break having been set up by Thabo Nodada.
A quiet second-half followed with the two teams creating few clear-cut chances - goalkeeper Darren Keet was forced to produce a fantastic save to deny Campbell in the 50th minute.
However, the match ended in a 1-1 draw in regulation time and extra time followed in Tshwane.
There were no goals in extra time and the game had to be decided by a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw.
Ricardo Goss was the hero in the shootout as he made three saves which saw SuperSport emerge as 3-1 winners on penalties on the night and the keeper was named Man of the Match.
