Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Khama Billiat believes that this has been the best pre-season in his playing career.
Billiat's Amakhosi are away to Royal AM this Saturday at Chatsworth Stadium in the 2022-23 DStv Premiership. The Phefeni Glamour Boys lost both league matches to MaMkhize's charges going down 4-1 in the first encounter and 1-0 in the second to complete a double for the season.
Billiat was bullish, saying that what happened last season is in the past. Billiat is yet to win silverware since joining from the Brazilians in 2018, and he believes the Amakhosi have a team that is good enough to challenge for trophies.
“Without putting anyone under pressure, we want to be competitive this season and we want to compete for everything that comes our way. We want to go all the way and we want to give everything we can,” Billiat said on Thursday.
“I think this is one of the seasons where we have got good players and we have got energy in the team — we can feel it.
“We also feel that the way we train is going to pay off. We are just praying to God that we have less injuries this season or no injuries at all.”
Meanwhile, coach Arthur Zwane is a confident figure ahead of his first game as Kaizer Chiefs coach, saying he’s ready to absorb the pressure that comes with the job.
Zwane was appointed as Chiefs head coach at the end of last season after the team endured a trophyless run under returning coach Stuart Baxter.
