CR Belouizdad and Wydad Casablanca took control of their CAF Champions League groups after registering wins on Friday.
Belouizdad thumped Jwaneng Galaxy 4-1 courtesy of goals from Mohamed Bakir, Karim Aribi, Kheiredine Merzougui and Housseyn Selmi at the Stade du 5 Juillet in Algeria.
The win elevated the Algerian side to the top of Group C standings, while winless Galaxy, whose consolation goal was netted by Thabang Sesinyi, remained fourth on the table.
Meanwhile, Wydad Casablanca edged out Zamalek 1-0 at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt with Yahya Jabrine scoring the only goal of the match.
As a result, the Moroccan giants climbed to the top of the Group D standings having also defeated Zamalek 3-1 at home two weeks ago.
While Egypt's Zamalek, who are winless in the group stage, remained third on the standings and their hopes of reaching the knockout phase are fading away at the moment.
The Derby of the Two Niles featuring Sudan's two biggest football clubs, Al Hilal Omdurman and Al Merrikh, was also played on Friday.
Yasir Mozamil grabbed a late winning goal to inspire Al Hilal to a 1-0 win over Al Merrikh in a Group A encounter at the Al-Hilal Stadium in Sudan.
The win took Al Hilal to third place on the group standings, but they are level on points with fourth-placed Al Merrikh with two games left.
