Njabulo Blom has become Stellenbosch’s 15th signing of the new season, with the utility player joining the club on a one-season loan from Indonesian Super League side Borneo Samarinda.
Stellenbosch made the announcement on Friday despite the fact Blom signed on Monday ahead of the transfer window.
“I’m excited to be here, and to start this journey in a new environment,” Blom told his club’s website.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge and building relationships with my new teammates. I will do my best to help the team and see what we can achieve together.
“Stellenbosch is a professional and well-run club, and players who have played here in the past have enjoyed success, so I felt that it was a good environment for me to grow and to play competitive football again.
“I know coach Gavin (Hunt) demands a lot from his players, and that will also help me improve and get back to my best.”
Blom has had a dramatic dip in fortunes since a high-profile transfer from Kaizer Chiefs to St Louis City in Major League Soccer.
There, he was initially a regular player but later lost his place in the team and returned to Chiefs on loan, but failed to make any impact.
St Louis City ended his contract, following which the 26-year-old headed to Vietnam and then Indonesia.
Stellenbosch’s next outing is in the Betway Premier League away against Chiefs at Soccer City on Saturday, 17 October.
