Bournemouth v Leeds United
Bournemouth welcome Leeds United in a fixture that has often tilted towards the Whites. Leeds have taken 10 wins from 15 meetings with the Cherries, though their only Premier League trip to the Vitality ended in a bruising 4-1 defeat back in 2023. Bournemouth, meanwhile, have managed just two victories in this matchup across all competitions – only against Manchester City do they hold a worse record.
The Cherries’ home form tells its own story: four successive Premier League draws, a run they haven’t bettered since the 1960s. Leeds arrive unbeaten in five away league games, their longest stretch since 2001, and chasing back-to-back away wins for the first time in four years.
Daniel Farke’s men have also strung together an eight-game unbeaten run on the road in all competitions, highlighted by a historic FA Cup semifinal berth and a first league win at Old Trafford since 1981.
Individual narratives add spice. Junior Kroupi, who struck in the reverse fixture, could become the first teenager to score home and away against Leeds in a Premier League season. Noah Okafor has been Leeds’ away-day talisman, scoring in both of their league wins on the road, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s streak echoes the days of Harry Kewell and Mark Viduka.
Burnley v Manchester City
At Turf Moor, Burnley face a daunting challenge against a Manchester City side that has turned this fixture into a procession. The Clarets have lost their last 11 league meetings with City – their longest losing run against any opponent – and have conceded five or more goals in five different encounters, a Premier League record for one team against another.
Burnley’s struggles at home are stark: winless in 12 league matches, with defensive frailties exposed after conceding 25 goals this season compared to just eight last term. Scott Parker’s personal record against City offers little comfort either – five defeats from five, with an aggregate score of 16-1.
City, by contrast, are relentless. Since December, no side has collected more away points, and they remain unbeaten in 29 Premier League games against newly promoted teams. Erling Haaland, predictably, looms large: seven goals in four appearances against Burnley, averaging one every 36 minutes.
Two very different battles await: Bournemouth and Leeds locked in a contest of fine margins and streaks, while Burnley brace themselves for the full force of Manchester City’s title charge.
