Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze believes their good run of form stems from a consistent line-up, as they go in search of a fifth straight win in the Betway Premiership against Magesi at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday, 15 April.
Kick-off is at 7:30pm CAT (SA, GMT+2).
CURRENT FORM:
The Glamour Boys strengthened their bid for CAF football after beating TS Galaxy 2-0 at the FNB Stadium on Sunday to open up a three-point gap to AmaZulu in third place with two games in hand.
It was the first time this season that Amakhosi had won four games in a row and it's been quite a turnaround after they suffered three consecutive defeats to Stellenbosch (2-1), Orlando Pirates (3-0) and Richards Bay (1-0) during February and March.
Kaze admits the Soweto giants are benefitting from stability in their starting XI due to the return of several players from injury which is creating more competition for places in the team.
The threat of relegation looms over Dikwena tsa Meetse after picking up just six points out of a possible 27 in 2026 to remain rooted to the foot of the table.
Allan Freese's side were denied a share of the spoils in cruel fashion on Saturday when they conceded in the sixth minute of stoppage time to lose 1-0 against Sekhukhune United in Polokwane.
The Limpopo outfit find themselves two points behind Orit College (15th) and Marumo Gallants (14th), who played out to a 0-0 draw on Sunday which did little for their respective survival bids.
This will be the second meeting between Magesi and Chiefs in the space of 26 days after Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef's side ran out 2-0 victors in the reverse fixture on March 21.
WHAT WAS SAID:
Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze
"The consistency in the recent results comes from the consistency in performances and the consistency in the line-up. I am the first to understand why we struggled a few weeks ago when we had like three defeats in a row.
"It was a very unfortunate situation where we had so many injuries that you couldn't keep the same line-up for two games, but today you saw that Ox [Sibongiseni Mthethwa] is coming back, Given Msimango has also played two consecutive games.
"All the players coming back from injury creates more competition at training and everyone is pulling in the same direction."
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Magesi - Siyabonga Ndlozi: was one of Dikwena tsa Meetse's better players against Babina Noko as he limited Keletso Makgalwa's impact down the left flank. The 23-year-old right-back, who has made eight successive starts for Magesi in the league, will have his work cut out for him against the pacey Glody Lilepo.
Kaizer Chiefs - Flavio Silva: made his first start in four games for Amakhosi and his selection paid off after heading home the opener against Galaxy in the 35th minute. The Guinea-Bissau striker took his league tally for the campaign to six goals as he scored for the first time in five appearances to stay two clear of Glody Lilepo, who also found the back of the net against the Rockets.
