Durban City will have to play last season’s African Champions League runners-up Royal Armed Forces of Morocco, plus Libya’s Al Ahly Tripoli and Azam of Tanzania in the group phaser of the African Confederation Cuyp.
City were paired with the trio in Group B at the draw which was conducted by the Confederation of African Football in Cairo on Wednesday.
Morocco’s military side lost out to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Champions League final in May but are past winners of the Confederation Cup in 2005.
Al Ahly Tripoli were beaten by Orlando Pirates in the 2022 Confederation Cup semifinal.
Azam are the third side from Dar-es-Salaam, in the shadows of Simba and Young Africans but still will prove a difficult opponent for Eric Tinkler’s side, who booked their place in the group stage with a win in Mauritius on Sunday.
City are competing in continental club competition for the first time.
