Kaizer Chiefs claimed back-to-back Betway Premiership wins for the second time in 2026 with a 2-0 victory over Magesi at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
AmaKhosi scored more than one goal in a match for the first time since their 4-1 victory over Orbit College in November.
The co-coaches made three changes to their starting XI, with Aden McCarthy back from suspension, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Pule Mmodi all into the starting line-up.
Magesi made no changes from their come-from-behind draw against Chippa United. Allan Freese took his second loss in his fifth game in charge of Dikwena tša Meetse, who still have not won a league match away from home this season.
The fixture did not start on a positive note for AmaKhosi as captain Inácio Miguel received a yellow card in the 6th minute, meaning he would be out for the club’s next fixture due to suspension.
However, Chiefs started to find their rhythm in the 10th minute. Miguel’s long ball from around the halfway line found Mduduzi Shabalala on the edge of the area. He laid the ball off for Glody Lilepo, whose shot was drilled narrowly wide of the left upright.
In the 14th minute, Pule Mmodi found Lilepo in a tight space in the box and the Congolese winger was quickly smothered by defenders Mzwandile Buthelezi and Lehlegonolo Mokone and had his shot blocked.
The home side had another opportunity a minute later as John Mokone’s clearance went as far as Dillan Solomons, who found Nkosingiphile Ngcobo moving forward.
Ngcobo played in Lebohang Maboe, whose effort to find the bottom right corner was denied by goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze.
Chiefs broke forward with good combination play through the midfield in the 27th minute, ending up with Wandile Duba finding Ngcobo in the box. The midfielder showed too much of the ball while cutting inside and was dispossessed.
CHIEFS DOUBLE UP
AmaKhosi’s persistence played off as they broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute. Lilepo switched play from left to right, finding Duba on the edge of the area in space.
The winger drove forward, feinting inside and going outside to beat John Mokone and put the ball past Chipezeze for his first goal of the season.

Magesi had chances towards the end of the first period. In the 43rd minute, Sifiso Luthuli got ahead of Aden McCarthy, with his header from a corner narrowly travelling wide of the target.
In stoppage time, Solomon’s back pass overshot Miguel, allowing Luthuli to sweep in and push forward. With McCarthy and Miguel working hard to recover, Luthuli cut inside but his shot was saved by Bruce Bvuma.
AmaKhosi came close to a second goal in the 54th minute. Mmodi found Shabalala down the left side of the box, who pulled the ball back for Lilepo, who was waiting for the ball to come to him.
However, John Mokone intercepted the ball before it could reach the Congolese attacker.
Substitutes combined in the 67th minute, as Solomons sent a good pass out wide to Mfundo Vilakazi. He sent it into the box for Gastón Sirino, who prodded his shot wide.
AmaKhosi sealed the deal in the 84th minute, doubling their lead. Substitute Thabiso Monyane whipped the ball into Vilakazi in the box.
The 20-year-old’s first effort was mishit, taking the ball away from his defender and allowing him to find the back of the net on the second attempt.
