Following a 100 per cent win rate during the early stages of the 2026/27 Motsepe Foundation Championship, both Magesi and Highbury will put their unblemished records on the line when they do battle on Sunday, while a tense Cape fixture awaits.
As arguably the clash of the weekend, first placed Magesi and second positioned Highbury will do battle on Sunday with both sides hoping to extend their winning streak to four matches.
Magesi claimed a 3-1 win on away grounds against Leicesterford City during matchday three, while Highbury noted a nervy 1-0 victory over Upington City last time out as they took their tally to nine points for the campaign.
In another tie at the top end of the log, Lerumo Lions will be at home to Real Native on Saturday afternoon with the former in line to claim their third consecutive win in the league following a 2-1 victory against Orbit College on Tuesday.
As it stands, Lerumo Lions occupy third on the table with seven points while Real Native will enter the weekend’s proceedings in fifth with six points to their tally so far.
Elsewhere, Cape Town City could make it two wins on the spin when they face the newly promoted Hope FC away on Sunday. Seventh-placed City got over their poor start to the season by recording a 2-1 win against Hungry Lions last Sunday while Hope FC, who are in sixth position, took home a 1-0 victory against NWU to complete their second maximum point haul of the campaign.
At the tail end of the log, 16th placed The Bees are targeting a return to the winning column after suffering three straight losses as they prepare to take on Hungry Lions on away soil this Saturday.
The Bees noted consecutive losses against Highbury, Magesi and Gomora in their first three outings, with Hungry Lions likewise seeking their first victory of the season. Hungry Lions commenced their campaign with back-to-back draws alongside Gomora United and Real Orbit College before their recent loss against City.
