Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou praised the club’s fans on a near perfect night as the Buccaneers thrashed Lamontville Golden Arrows 5-0 on Tuesday to stay on the tail of champions Mamelodi Sundowns in a thrilling title race.
Relebohile Mofokeng scored twice and was man of the match again while Oswin Appollis also grabbed a double but Ouaddou was quickest to hail the supporters after the game.
“It was a fantastic evening for us. I want to mention that we had fantastic support from the fans here,” he said of the 10 000-stromng crowd that braved overcast conditions at the Orlando Stadium.
“So it's really, really, really top top when we feel the support of our fans; the players can fly and they can go over the limit.”
Ouaddou, who side won 6-0 away at TS Galaxy in their previous game, also hailed the performance.
“We played the game that we wanted in terms of organisation, in terms of discipline, defensive discipline. Again, we didn't concede any goals. I think from (goalkeeper) Sipho (Chaine) to the strikers, going through our midfielders, they did a fantastic job.
"In terms of the attacking, I think that we had around 64 per cent of the possession, we had 31 shots and 10 on the target.
“It was really a top game for us. And definitely we can see that we are not only a team who play transition, We are team that can play football as well,” the Pirates coach added.
“A lot of people think that maybe it was a little bit of luck against TS Galaxy. But we can see that when our team, when our boys start to be efficient in the last third, we're creating a lot of chances and now we start to see them scoring.
“So I think it's a very good evening and proud. very proud of our boys. I'm very proud coach. And we are going to fight until the end. Pirates will not give up until the end of the season.”
