As the battle for the 2025/26 Betway Premiership title rages on, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns will be involved in key midweek battles, while Magesi faces mounting pressure at the bottom of the table.
With PSL league games rolling in thick and fast, the likes of Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs will be forced to abandon thoughts of the recent Soweto Derby during their midweek assignments.
To begin with, Orlando Pirates will be back in action on Wednesday night with a tricky fixture against Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The Buccaneers lead the way at the top of the table on 41 points following their encouraging 3-0 win against Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium this past Saturday. Pirates have won four out of their last five league ties, while suffering a 2-1 loss to Orlando Pirates prior to the Soweto Derby showdown.
As for Sundowns, who secured a 3-1 win against Sekhukhune United on Sunday, they will face Golden Arrows at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday evening. After being toppled by Pirates to the summit of the log, Downs are second, level on points with the Soweto giants.
Adding to their blistering form, Sundowns are now on a five-match winning streak and are unbeaten in their last nine league outings.
Elsewhere, Kaizer Chiefs will hope to return to the winning column when they take on Richards Bay FC at the uMhlathuze Stadium on Tuesday evening. After back-to-back defeats in the league, Amakhosi dropped to fifth on the table with 30 points after 17 matches.
The Glamour Boys will also hope to overcome a sticky spell of late that included two wins, two losses and one draw in their last five Betway Premiership outings.
Also, bottom of the log Magesi will be yearning for a positive result this week when they go toe-to-toe with AmaZulu at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Wednesday.
With only 12 points to their name so far, Magesi will head into their next encounter following a 2-0 loss against Polokwane City. Overall, Magesi recorded four losses in their previous handful of league matches and have only registered two wins all season.
Magesi’s most recent win took place on 18 October 2025, where they secured a 2-1 win over TS Galaxy. Prior to the game against the Rockets, Magesi’s only other win in the Betway Premiership came on 20 September 2025, via a 2-0 victory over Siwelele.
Also, Durban City could make it three wins on the bounce when they lock horns with Sekhukhune United at the Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday.
Durban City are flying high in the Betway Premiership at the moment in fourth position following wins against TS Galaxy and Marumo Gallants respectively.
