FC Barcelona are champions of Spain for the 29th time. The Catalan club secured a second successive title with a 2-0 victory over Real Madrid on Sunday night, with Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres scoring early goals. They’ve mathematically secured top spot with three weeks to spare, and these are some of the key figures behind this success.
LAMINE YAMAL
Without a doubt, Lamine Yamal has been the star of this FC Barcelona season. Even if he missed El Clásico with injury and is out for the rest of this season, the 18-year-old had a tremendous impact over his 28 appearances in LaLiga EA Sports in 2025/26.
His tallies of 16 goals and 12 assists mean his direct goal contributions increased to 28 from 24 last season (9 goals and 15 assists). Beyond that, though, he was a nightmare for defenders all season, completing 133 successful dribbles, by far the most of any player in Europe’s top five leagues. Barça well and truly have a new superstar No 10 on their hands.
JOAN GARCÍA
At the other end of the pitch, Joan García has made an important contribution between the posts. Signed in the summer from city rivals RCD Espanyol, the shot-stopper has slotted in perfectly to this team.
His saves in key moments, such as in the away derby win against his former club in January, have helped Los Azulgranas to pick up point after point, and it’s little surprise to see him leading the Zamora Trophy rankings with a ratio of 0.69 goals conceded per game.
PEDRI
In the team’s midfield, Pedri has been fundamental to the success of this FC Barcelona team. The Canary Islander has enjoyed arguably the best season of his career so far, fighting for every ball in the centre of the pitch and completing 91 per cent of his passes.
With eight assists, this is his best season ever in terms of chance creation, and he has demonstrated his leadership too by wearing the captain’s armband on multiple occasions this term.
FERRAN TORRES
So many players have contributed to FC Barcelona’s league-leading attack, with Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Marcus Rashford all scoring important goals at important moments. But, the player who’ll likely finish the campaign as the team’s top scorer in the league is Ferran Torres.
The 26-year-old has had the best season of his career with 16 LaLiga EA Sports goals, so it was fitting that he ended up on the scoresheet in the victory in El Clásico which mathematically sealed the title.
HANSI FLICK
As the coach of this back-to-back title-winning team, Hansi Flick deserves all the plaudits he is receiving. The German coach has brought a sense of stability and a mindset of consistency to FC Barcelona, and has now won league titles in each of his first two seasons in Catalonia.
In fact, the 61-year-old is something of a master at navigating league campaigns, as he has now won a championship in all four of the seasons in which he has coached a club in a European top division, doing so twice in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich and now twice in LaLiga EA Sports with FC Barcelona.
