In an outstanding effort with the bat, allrounder Eliz-Mari Marx produced a pulsating century worth 115 runs off 66 deliveries, including 11 fours and six sixes to help the Fidelity Titans to a season-opening victory over the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers in the CSA Women’s One-Day Cup on Saturday.
In the only match-up this weekend from Division One of the CSA Professional Domestic Women’s League, the Titans sealed a convincing 160-run win over the Badgers after dismissing their opponents for 115 in defence of their 275/4 in the first innings after the overs were reduced to 43.
This was thanks to Marx’s match-winning performance with the willow, assisted by contributions from Robyn Searle (86* off 125; 5 fours) and a four-wicket haul from Paulinah Mashishi (4-19) and three wickets from Gandhi Jafta (3-28)

In Division Two, there was a rained-out match in Gqeberha between Eastern Province and Northern Cape Heat, with the game abandoned without a ball being bowled.
In the two matches that did take place in the first weekend of second-division cricket, recently relegated Glencore North West Dragons opened their account with a nine-wicket triumph over Eastern Storm in Potchefstroom.
Opening batter, Diedre van Rensburg top-scored with an unbeaten 62* off 99 balls (6 fours) as the Dragons completed their run chase of the first innings score posted by the Storm worth 128 all out, which also featured a five-wicket return from Dragons youngster Nthabiseng Nini (5-15).
In Paarl, Boland secured a four-wicket victory over Eastern Cape Iinyathi in a low-scoring, 50-over affair after the visiting side based in East London was bowled out for 82 within 33.4 overs, with former SA U19 captain Oluhle Siyo picking up figures of 4-13.
Although Iinyathi made things difficult for Boland in their chase with Liyema Jubati’s 4-19 with the ball, the home team got over the line with 30 overs to spare as Siyo also led with the bat with a score of 34 off 32 balls.
The CSA Professional Domestic Women’s League continues on Sunday, 8 October with T20 Challenge action across Division One and Division Two.
