Kaizer Chiefs hope to have a bevy of players back in training this week and in contention to travel with the team to Egypt for their decisive African Confederation Cup group clash against Zamalek.
Injury-plagued Chiefs have a long list of players on the sidelines, but co-coach Cedric Kaze is confident they will begin to cheer the treatment room in the coming days.
Midfielder George Matlou was on the bench on Sunday when Chiefs beat Al Masry 2-1 in their penultimate Confederation Cup group D match as he returned yet again from injury, while Thabo Cele has also been back in training over the last week.
Bradley Cross and Sibongiseni Mthethwa are due to begin work again on Monday.
However, Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro has no date yet set for his return to action.
Chiefs will be traveling to Cairo on Wednesday. They had made their bookings some time ago, so the decision by the Confederation of African Football to put their match forward 24 hours to Saturday evening rather than Sunday has upset their plans and gives them less time to settle into conditions in Cairo.
Chiefs will make sure of top place in the group with a draw in Saturday’s match, which kicks off at 6pm South African time (live on SuperSport) at Cairo’s Al Salam Stadium.
But if they lose, they could finish third and miss out on advancing to the quarterfinals.
