Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef has urged his team not to relent in their pursuit of a top-three finish, as they prepare to face Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, 18 April.
Kick-off is at 5:30pm CAT (SA, GMT+2).
Current form:
The Glamour Boys hold all the cards at the moment after they dispatched Betway Premiership basement dwellers Magesi 4-1 on April 15 to open up a six-point gap on fourth-placed AmaZulu.
It was their fifth win on the spin in the league and the first time they had achieved that feat since the 2019/20 season when they went on an eight-match winning streak.
Amakhosi also have a game in hand on Usuthu, who dropped points in their last two outings against Siwelele (1-1) and Sekhukhune United (2-2).
Rise And Shine have struggled for results in 2026, winning just two of their nine matches and picking up nine points in the process.
Phuti Mohafe's side battled back from behind to draw 1-1 with Chippa United on April 11 which left them unbeaten in their last two encounters after beating TS Galaxy 2-1 three days earlier.
The Limpopo outfit are still in a good position to qualify for the MTN 8 as they sit five points clear of Stellenbosch (9th) in seventh spot with seven fixtures left to play.
What was said:
Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef
"We are taking each game as a cup game. Every game is difficult for us... We have to fight in each and every game.
"I think we need to win against Polokwane to confirm our position and continue to fight. Being in the top three is a minimum for a big team as Kaizer Chiefs."
Players to watch:
Polokwane City - Bonginkosi Dlamini has impressed this season and looks to have finally found his feet after joining the club from Platinum City in August 2024. The 29-year-old winger leads the team for assists (3) and his goal in the 2-1 defeat to Orlando PIrates on March 4 put him one behind Mokibelo Ramabu, who is Rise And Shine's top scorer.
Kaizer Chiefs - Flavio Silva has made quite the impact at Naturena following his switch from Persebaya in July, scoring seven goals in 16 appearances. The 30-year-old striker's goals have come in mini spurts as he's scored in back-to-back games on three occasions before enduring a slight barren spell.
