There was little doubt about who owned September in the Premier League.
Antoine Semenyo's explosive form for Manchester City not only helped the reigning champions maintain their perfect start to the season, but also saw the Ghanaian forward claim the SuperSport African Player of the Month award for September 2026.

The Ghana international dominated the fan vote on www.supersportpredictor.com with an overwhelming 66.83 per cent, finishing well ahead of fellow nominees Malick Yalcouye (13.55 per cent), Nicolas Jackson (10.81 per cent) and Mohamed Belloumi (8.81 per cent).
What made Semenyo's triumph particularly emphatic was the quality and consistency of his performances throughout the month.
Across three Premier League matches in September, he registered two goals and two assists, making him the most productive African player in the competition during that period.
His influence stretched far beyond the raw numbers. Semenyo first made his mark in City's narrow 1-0 victory over Coventry City, supplying the pinpoint cross that Erling Haaland headed home for the winning goal.
He followed that with another tireless display in a hard-fought Manchester derby success before producing his standout performance against Sunderland.
At the Etihad Stadium, Semenyo was simply irresistible. After setting up Rayan Cherki, he struck twice himself in a thrilling 5-3 victory, directly contributing to three goals in one match and underlining why he has become one of City's most feared attacking weapons.
The Premier League's official statistics paint a picture of a forward thriving in every phase of the game. Semenyo ended September with five league appearances, two goals and three assists, while also boasting 31 touches in the opposition box and an impressive 89 per cent pass completion rate.
His ability to blend creativity with ruthless finishing has made him a pivotal figure in City's attack.
September's success is another milestone in what has been a remarkable rise since his move to Manchester City.
Having already won the Premier League's Player of the Month award in February, Semenyo has continued to enhance his reputation as one of Africa's leading exports in European football.
Since arriving at City, he has consistently delivered goals, assists and match-winning moments on the biggest stages.
Semenyo's latest accolade is further evidence that the Black Stars forward is entering the prime years of his career.
And after a September in which he lit up the Premier League with four direct goal contributions, few could argue with his crowning as SuperSport's African Player of the Month.
