The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is just a month away and coaches are getting ready to name their final squads for the global showpiece event.
We take a look at the groups and who will expect to reach the knockout stages.
GROUP D
FRANCE
Previous appearances: 16 (1930, 1934, 1938, 1954, 1958, 1966, 1978, 1982, 1986, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018)
Coach: Didier Deschamps (France)
Star player: Kylian Mbappe (Paris St Germain)
The current world champions, France will be among the favourites again, but have been underwhelming in their form of late. How too will the uncertainty over the future of star man Kylian Mbappe affect them? They need to find another gear from their recent performances.
AUSTRALIA
Previous appearances: 5 (1974, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018)
Best finish: Second round (2006)
Coach: Graham Arnold (Australia)
Star player: Mathew Leckie (Melbourne City)
Australia have qualified for a fifth success World Cup finals, but this is certainly not a side with the same caliber as what has gone before. They have lost a number of established names and in many ways are going through a rebuild. They will do well to get out the pool.
DENMARK
Previous appearances: 5 (1986, 1998, 2002, 2010, 2018)
Best finish: Quarterfinals (1998)
Coach: Kasper Hjulmand (Denmark)
Star player: Christian Eriksen (Manchester United)
Denmark have enough in their locker to make the knockout stages, but not to go very deep into the competition. They still rely heavily on the creativity of Christian Eriksen, who is back playing after his heart scare at the Euros. They will do well to match their best finish of the quarterfinals.
TUNISIA
Previous appearances: 5 (1978, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2018)
Best finish: Group stages (five times)
Coach: Jalel Kadri (Tunisia)
Star player: Wahbi Khazri (Montpellier)
Tunisia may well struggle at the finals and not meet their aim of making it out of the pool stages with a squad that is perhaps below the level of past competitors. They are organised and structured, but lack the quality to break down top teams.
