While the likes of Milford and Cape Town City have been lighting up the Motsepe Foundation Championship in recent weeks, clubs such as Black Leopards, Baroka and Midlands Wanderers have to roll up their sleeves during a crucial period of the campaign.
To begin with, bottom of the log Black Leopards will take on Gomora United on Saturday as Lidoda Duvha hope to improve on their 12-point tally after 16 matches played.
Black Leopards last saw out a 1-1 draw with Baroka and extended their winless streak to seven matches in the process. The Limpopo side last tasted victory on 2 November 2025, where they recorded a 4-1 win against The Bees on away soil. Leopards have now jotted down three draws and two defeats in their last five as they face the serious risk of being relegated from the division this season.
As for Baroka, who are in 15th position currently, Bakgakga are scheduled to face The Bees on Saturday afternoon. Baroka are on a run of three consecutive draws, with the latest being a 1-1 stalemate with Black Leopards on 1 February.
Elsewhere, 14th place Midlands Wanderers could make it two wins on the spin when they go toe-to-toe with the in-form Cape Town City at the Athlone Stadium on Sunday.
Sitting on 17 points, Midlands Wanderers are three points away from the drop zone, while fourth-placed City are four points away from the top after recording four wins and one draw in their last five
Then, log leaders Milford will eye Highbury as their next Motsepe Foundation Championship opponent, with the latter heading into the next fixture sitting in 11th position.
Highbury suffered a negative spell of results in South Africa’s first division recently and dropped crucial points during a run of three losses and two stalemates in their previous handful of league ties.
Milford on the other hand, hold a three-point lead over second-placed Casric Stars after 17 games played with the latter taking on Hungry Lions on Saturday.
