Stellenbosch have announced the signing of Nigerian midfielder Kazeem Adeyanju, who joins on a free transfer from Plateau United and could debut in Tuesday’s Betway Premiership clash against Kaizer Chiefs.
Kazeem has been training at Stellenbosch since the start of the season, but his work permit has taken several months to be sorted.
Stellenbosch are still to announce the signing of striker Arigo Obus, who has also been training with the side since the start of the season.
Obus previously played in Rwanda with Rutsiro, who finished bottom of the table in the East African country last season, but his signing has been held up by transfer issues as well as the need for a work permit, according to club officials.
A work permit was received in early September for goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi, who went with Ghana to this year’s World Cup as a back-up goalkeeper, although he was not in the squad, helping out at training as an additional ‘keeper.
The 25-year-old was previously at Hearts of Oak.
Stellenbosch have already signed a bevy of new players after a massive cleanout of players at the end of the last season.
Adeyanju will become the fifth Nigerian player to represent Stellenbosch, following in the footsteps of Stanley Dimgba, Ibraheem Jabaar, Kazie Enyinnaya and Olisa Ndah.
