Mamelodi Sundowns have signed South African junior international Lazola Maku, who has been without a club since leaving Siwelele at the end of last season.
Maku did not renew his contract with the Bloemfontein-based club after making his debut for Siwelele in the latter stages of the campaign and finishing the season with two starts to his name.
Midfielder Maku, who is 19 years old, was named among the tournament’s best players after helping South Africa win the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament after defeating Morocco 1–0 in the final in Egypt in May last year. He scored against New Caledonia at the U-20 World Cup in Chile in October.

This year Maku was named Amajita captain for the 2026 U-20 COSAFA Championship, where South Africa won over hosts Mozambique in the finals to qualify for the next U-20 Cup of Nations tournament, which is to be hosted by Ghana.
Sundowns were able to sign Maku outside of the transfer window because he was out of contract.
