Mamelodi Sundowns aim to secure a first-leg edge as they welcome Golden Arrows for Sunday’s MTN8 semifinal encounter at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
The match kicks off at 3pm CAT.
CURRENT FORM
The Brazilians booked their semifinal spot courtesy of a dramatic 3-2 extra-time triumph against Polokwane City on August 8 and they have made a solid start to the Betway Premiership campaign under coach Miguel Cardoso.
A comfortable 2-0 home win over Marumo Gallants on August 19 has boosted Sundowns' morale, and they will view their MTN8 fixture as the ideal opportunity to impose themselves and build a strong platform for the final.
Golden Arrows, meanwhile, progressed after a narrow 1-0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs on August 9 and they remain undefeated in the early stages of the Betway Premiership but are still searching for their first win.
Abafana Bes’thende, who have registered three consecutive draws in the league this season, will likely prioritise a compact defensive shape to frustrate Sundowns and snatch a valuable away result.

TEAM NEWS
Mamelodi Sundowns face a new setback: right-back Khuliso Mudau sustained a long-term injury during the midweek win against Marumo Gallants and he is sidelined for at least six months.
Furthermore, Antonio Van Wyk, Teboho Mokoena, Keanu Cupido and Arthur Sales are all on Masandawana's injury list.
Golden Arrows, coached by Pitso Dladla, are anticipated to field a near full-strength side for the important first-leg meeting with the Brazilians.
The two teams will meet twice in this tie — beginning with the MTN8 semifinal first leg on Sunday and concluding with the second leg in Umlazi on August 30.
WHAT WAS SAID?
Mamelodi Sundowns Head Coach Miguel Cardoso
"When we settled on the team, we knew that there would be things that could happen. We also knew that let's give ourselves seven to 10 matches to see if we could do it or not," Cardoso said.
"We will evaluate until the end of the market and see what will happen, I don't know, there's no predicting." "If you ask any coach, they would like to have the best players in the world. I have some of the best players in South Africa and we have to work to develop players too."
Golden Arrows Head Coach Pitso Dladla
“I’m very happy for the players who have shown a high level of confidence because if you look at our training sessions, this is how we play, and also, if you check the players that are brought in by the club, they are those that are technically gifted," Dladla said.
"So, that’s the only way we should play according to our strengths, and I believe that we are not where we want to be; there is still a lot of room for improvement, but I’m happy with how we are playing currently.”
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Cassius Mailula, Mamelodi Sundowns: The diminutive forward has hit the ground running since rejoining Masandawana, hitting the back of the net on three occasions in four matches. His sharp runs, positioning and finishing will pose a major threat to Arrows.
Edward Maova, Golden Arrows: The Namibia international is the only goalkeeper yet to concede across both PSL competitions (Betway Premiership and MTN8) this season, recording four clean sheets from four games. Maova could be key if Arrows are to upset Sundowns.
