Magesi FC will play host to Milford FC in the decisive final match of the PSL Promotion-Relegation Playoffs at the Seshego Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 3pm CAT.
CURRENT FORM
Dikwena Tsa Meetse head into the final day of the playoffs fighting to preserve their Betway Premiership status after earning a crucial 1-1 draw away to Cape Town City on Wednesday, which kept their survival hopes alive.
Magesi currently sit second in the standings with four points, two behind leaders Milford and their home advantage at Seshego Stadium gives Dikwena Tsa Meetse a strong chance to secure the points needed to retain their top-flight place
Winning the match is a must for the Limpopo side as a draw would see them relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship after two seasons in the South African top flight.
On the other side, Milford suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Cape Town City on Saturday, which delayed their promotion celebrations despite leading the playoffs standings.
However, the Stallions know that a draw or victory in Polokwane will secure promotion to the Premiership for the first time in the KwaZulu-Natal-based club's history.
TEAM NEWS
Both teams have no suspension concerns heading into this decisive clash, which should allow Magesi and Milford to select their strongest available line-ups.
WHAT WAS SAID?
Magesi FC head coach Allan Freese:
“I could not have asked for something better; the last game at home. We are going back home and then Friday, maybe loosen up a little bit and that’s it," Freese said.
“[Milford] have an advantage because they had a rest the whole week. We need to have a quick recovery now. Unfortunately we have to travel. We have to calm our nerves and play like how we played today [Wednesday] — organised, stay compact. Don’t be all over the show, and that’s how we should play at home.”
“I didn’t know where the eight minutes were coming from. That was too much. They have that in English football. We don’t have eight minutes here. We have five minutes. It was nerve-wracking, but I’m happy that we can defend properly. I’m happy that we didn’t concede towards the end and we defended well.”
Milford FC head coach Xanti Pupuma:
“We switched off and didn't pick inside the box, otherwise we had it under control. Just the one slip-up and they capitalised on it," Pupuma said.
"We had a lot of chances where we could have taken it ourselves, but sometimes football is like that. I'm not going to kill the boys over it. We'll sit down, strategise and see what the results on Wednesday are and then plan from there.
"Play to win the game. We will do the same things we have been doing all season … same routine preparation for away games with a bit more rest. They're already motivated.”
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Magesi FC and Milford FC have faced each other three times across all competitions.
