Chiefs' unbeaten record on the line against Stellies

Kaizer Chiefs will look to maintain their undefeated start to the Betway Premiership campaign when they host Stellenbosch FC in Tuesday’s clash at FNB Stadium.

Kick-off is at 7:30 pm CAT.

CURRENT FORM

Amakhosi head into the match on the back of a 0-0 draw away to Golden Arrows on 20 September, keeping their unbeaten streak intact.

Sitting fourth in the Betway Premiership on 13 points, a victory over Stellenbosch would lift Chiefs to 16 points and potentially move them into the top three.

Stellenbosch, meanwhile, entered the break on a high note following a 1-0 victory over Kruger United on September 19, thanks to Keanan Johannesen's 27th-minute strike.

Currently seventh in the standings with nine points, a crucial away win against Chiefs would raise Stellies to 12 points and propel them directly into the top five.

Stellenbosch have earned their reputation as Chiefs’ bogey side, carrying a three-game unbeaten run against Amakhosi - highlighted by a stunning 2-1 victory at FNB Stadium in their last meeting in February.

TEAM NEWS

Kaizer Chiefs enter the clash with four major injury concerns as goalkeeper Brandon Petersen remains sidelined alongside midfielder Lebohang Maboe, who is nursing an ankle issue.

In addition, Langelihle Phili and Siphesihle Ndlovu are both ruled out as long-term absentees for the Soweto giants.

Stellenbosch, on the other hand, could hand debuts to high-profile additions Njabulo Blom and Ghanaian goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi after strengthening their squad during the window.

Given Msimango and Ashley Du Preez are also available to feature against his former club, with the Winelands side carrying no suspension worries into the tie.

WHAT WAS SAID?

Kaizer Chiefs Head Coach Fernando Da Cruz

"We have a lack of maturity in our frontline. We have young players with a lot of qualities, but they lack maturity. But we are in a good way; we need to continue in this way, and we will win games and score goals, for sure, 100 per cent," Da Cruz said.

"We need to continue on this way, and we are going to win games and score goals, 100 per cent, because people in front of the TV today, even though they watched 0-0, have watched a good game today."

Stellenbosch FC Head Coach Gavin Hunt

"Keanan (Johannesen)'s goal was crucial for us (against Kruger). It is his first senior professional goal, and he showed great composure to take it," Hunt said.

"We had to manage the game well in the second half, and taking all three points away from home is what matters most."

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Wandile Duba (Kaizer Chiefs): The 22-year-old forward enters the clash as Amakhosi's top scorer this season with three goals, and the energetic frontman will carry his side's main attacking threat as Chiefs look to unlock a stubborn Stellenbosch defence.

Quwan Plaatjies (Stellenbosch FC): The 20-year-old forward leads the line as Stellies' top scorer with three goals this season, and after netting a debut goal for South Africa's U23 team during the Fifa break, his sky-high confidence makes him a serious threat as he looks to slay Chiefs.
