Orlando Pirates managed to overcome their MTN8 final heartbreak by returning to the Betway Premiership winning column this week, following a 3-0 win over TS Galaxy at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Tuesday night.
Pirates thus recorded their sixth-straight win in the league following Tuesday night's proceedings, owing to goals by Boitumelo Radiopane, Tshepang Moremi and Simphiwe Masilela, in an efficient display on home soil.
Pirates faced early trouble as seen with chances created by Lennol Mathebula, who picked out promising positions in the final third, particularly with a shot at goal in the sixth minute that went wide of the mark.
The Soweto giants weathered a brief spell without the ball around the 15-minute mark as Galaxy started to gain momentum in the middle of the park.
Pirates eventually took the lead in the 18th minute following a well-worked passing move leading to the goal.
The reigning league champions strung together six swift passes before breaching the Galaxy backline, with Radiopane on hand to cap off the passing sequence.

With Pirates ahead, Galaxy held possession for large parts of the first half, with Sedwyn George providing the Rockets' final chance of the half, but ultimately his shot was blocked after he twisted and turned inside the 18-yard-area.
Moremi made an instant impact off the bench after the restart, joining Radiopane on the scoreboard five minutes into the new half.
As the Buccaneers pushed Galaxy back, Ira Tape was forced to make a save but ultimately parried the ball straight to Bulelani Sigomoshe, who squared it to Moremi and he squeezed his effort toward the goalkeeper's near post.
Galaxy struggled after conceding their second goal and did little to trouble the Pirates backline throughout the second half as they often fell short at the final hurdle.
Masilela gave Pirates the assurance goal in the 77th minute, capping off yet another well-constructed passing move toward the Galaxy box.
Following a period of neat interplay on the edge of the area, the DDC graduate expertly fired the ball home from an acute angle.
Galaxy had no answer to Pirates' dominance in the second half while the likes of Thulani Zandamela and Mathebula attempted to create opportunities for their side, none of which troubled the Sea Robbers' defence.
