Al Hilal Omdurman will face off with Al Ahly in a CAF Champions League Group A at the Al Hilal Stadium in Sudan on Friday.
Kick-off is at 3pm CAT.
The Sudanese champions began their group stage campaign with a narrow 1-0 defeat to South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns away on February 11.
Al Hilal will be banking on their good home record in the Champions League as they are undefeated in their eight matches in this competition.
Joao Mota, the Al Hilal head coach, says he knows what to expect from Al Ahly have studied the defending champions during the recent 2021 Fifa Club World Cup finals in the UAE.
“Making my players watch Al Ahly and Al-Hilal game in the Club World Cup is not a good idea, it was not a normal game,” Mota said on King Fut.
“Overall, I prefer picking specific clips of my opponents to study instead of watching full games. As a team, Al Ahly have a lot of qualities that make them favourites to win the game. Stability is one of Al Ahly’s best qualities.
"It makes the difference, especially against a team that consists of a lot of new players like Al-Hilal. They also have a very good manager, Pitso Mosimane is smart and he has a lot of experience in the CAF Champions League.”
Meanwhile, Al Ahly were scheduled to face Al Hilal's Sudanese rivals, Al Merrikh in their opening Group A game last weekend, but the match was postponed due to the former's Club World Cup commitments.
The Egyptian giants boast of an 11-match unbeaten run in the Champions League and they are coming into this clash having hammered Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal 4-0 to finish third in the Club World Cup last weekend.
However, Mosimane will have to do without one of his star attackers, Percy Tau when they take on Al Hilal Omdurman as the South Africa international remains sidelined with injury.
"Percy Tau, Al Ahly forward, performed several recovery drills on the sidelines of Wednesday’s training session," a club statement read.
"Ahmed Abu Abla, the team’s doctor, stated that Tau will stay in Cairo to continue his recovery program to recover from his quadriceps muscle injury.
"The Red Eagles are set to fly to Sudan to face Al Hilal on Friday in Matchday 2 of the CAF Champions League group stage."
The last meeting between Al Hilal Omdurman and Al Ahly was on 1 February 2020.
The two teams played to a 1-1 draw in a Champions League Group B match which was played at the Al Hilal Stadium.
