With the weekend’s Motsepe Foundation Championship fixtures completed, both Black Leopards and Baroka were left frustrated as they continue to linger in the league’s relegation zone.
While much of the attention has been placed on teams like Milford, Cape Town City and Kruger United at the top of the pile, Black Leopards and Baroka have been involved in a tense relegation scrap for much of the 2025/26 campaign.
To begin with, Black Leopards and Midlands Wanderers could only manage a 1-1 draw on Saturday, with the former rooted to the bottom of the log.
Lidoda Duvha thus recorded their seventh draw of the season and took their tally to 13 points from 19 matches played. After failing to make notable ground in their bid for survival, Black Leopards are now eight points from safety after gathering just two wins in the entire campaign.
As for Baroka, Bakgaga jotted down a 0-0 stalemate with Venda Football Academy on Sunday afternoon. The Limpopo side recorded just one win in their last five matches and were left frustrated with three draws and one defeat during this period.
Sitting in 15th place, Baroka are on 18 points following 20 matches, three points away from the safe zone which is currently occupied by Midlands Wanderers in 14th.
The Bees scored crucial points in their attempt to stay in the division this weekend following a 2-1 win against Highbury on Sunday. Following their latest result, The Bees jumped into 13th on the table and ended a bad spell of results that included three consecutive losses.
Looking ahead, Milford and Cape Town City will go toe-to-toe in an interesting top of the table clash at the Athlone Stadium on Tuesday, after their fixture was rescheduled shortly before the weekend.
