Brazilian club Corinthians announced on Sunday the arrival of former Netherlands midfielder Clarence Seedorf as coach until the end of 2027 as they attempt to avoid relegation.
The 50-year-old ex-AC Milan, Inter Milan and Real Madrid playmaker replaces Fernando Diniz, who was sacked after seven straight league defeats.
Corinthians sit 16th in the table with nine rounds of the season to go, just a point above the relegation zone.
Seedorf's previous managerial experience includes four months with Milan, five months with Shenzhen Football in China and 16 matches at the helm of Deportivo La Coruna before the Spanish side were relegated.
"Taking on this challenge is an honor, but also a huge responsibility," Seedorf said.
"I'm here to give everything I have and build a team that fights for every ball, every minute, every win," he added.
Seven-time Brazilian champions Corinthians face historic rivals Palmeiras later on Sunday.
