Kaizer Chiefs will square off with Siwelele FC in the 2026 Carling Knockout Cup quarterfinal showdown at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday evening.
Kick-off is at 6:00 pm CAT.
CURRENT FORM
Amakhosi are wounded following a 2-1 defeat to their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby on October 31, which abruptly ended their two-match unbeaten run across all competitions.
Gunning for a record-extending 14th League Cup title—their first since 2010—Chiefs will be resolute in their quest to secure victory on home soil and claim their spot in the semifinals.
Siwelele, by contrast, step onto the pitch following a 3-2 defeat against Marumo Gallants in their latest Betway Premiership outing on October 30, a setback that snapped their own three-match unbeaten run across all competitions.
Hoping for a good cup run and potentially clinching their maiden major trophy, the Free State outfit will be desperate to outmaneuver their hosts and advance to a historic semifinal spot.
TEAM NEWS
Kaizer Chiefs must reorganise their central defence because Inácio Miguel is serving a suspension following his red card in the Soweto Derby. Langelihle Phili, Bradley Cross, and Khanyisa Mayo remain unavailable due to injury.
Siwelele, meanwhile, will miss left-back Aphiwe Baliti due to suspension following his red card in the Round of 16 victory, though they receive a timely boost with Zakhele Lepasa featuring again after a long absence.
WHAT WAS SAID?
Kaizer Chiefs Left-Back Paseka Mako
“We aim to win this trophy, but we’re not getting ahead of ourselves, and all that is on our minds is to get through this quarterfinal," Mako told the club's media.
"They are difficult opponents, and we are aware of some of their strengths, but our primary focus is always on our own strategy of how to impose ourselves on them and win the match.
"We need to concentrate the whole time on executing what the coaches have told us."
Siwelele FC Head Coach Godfrey Mosoetsa
"When you play against one of the biggest clubs in the country, you don’t have to do much as a coach to motivate your players," Mosoetsa told reporters.
"They are already looking forward to the occasion because they know they will be playing in front of a big crowd against a big club. That in itself is motivation.
"We need experienced players like him (Zakhele Lepasa) to help us get out of the situation we are in."
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Wandile Duba, Kaizer Chiefs: The 22-year-old striker netted a sensational second-half hat-trick against TS Galaxy to propel Amakhosi to a victory in the Round of 16. He will look to replicate that ruthless scoring form and lead the attack against Siwelele.
Tebogo Potsane, Siwelele: The ex-Kaizer Chiefs winger has been playing some of his best football, collecting back-to-back Man of the Match awards against Polokwane City. He will be eager to haunt his former club and send Siwelele through to the semifinals.
