Kaizer Chiefs are taking their home game on the road this weekend as they attempt to capitalise on their change in form against the struggling Magesi at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 6pm CAT.
CURRENT FORM
Kaizer Chiefs made it back into the win column last week with a 1-0 win over Durban City after recording five losses and one win in their six prior games.
The three points collected saw AmaKhosi move to fifth place on the Betway Premiership standings with 33 points.
With ambitions of qualifying for a Caf competition next season, the Phefeni Glamour Boys will be looking to claim maximum points against the struggling Magesi and overtake third-placed Sekhukhune on the log, who are only one point ahead of them.
Magesi are rooted to the bottom of the Betway Premiership table, having collected 14 points from 20 games.
Dikwena tša Meetse have not won a match in any competition since their 2-1 league win over TS Galaxy on 18 October. Since then, they have recorded five losses and five draws in the league.
They have drawn their last two games and will be looking to close the gap between themselves and Orbit College, who sit on 18 points, with their third win of the campaign.
WHAT WAS SAID
Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze believes his side need to take the rest of the campaign one game at a time to achieve their goals.
“We just need to take [it] game by game. We have an important game on Saturday against Magesi before we go to the international break,” said Kaze, speaking after his side’s victory over Durban City.
“All our focus needs to be on that game because we have had, as we said before, a couple of difficult weeks and the only thing is to try to improve every day, to try to get the right message to the players during the week at training, to try to train as good as we can every day and go into the Saturday game against Magesi. I believe that everything else will fall in line.”
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Kaizer Chiefs - Glody Lilepo has been a constant threat for opponents in AmaKhosi’s front line. After scoring the winner last week with a superb strike, the pacey attacker will be looking to be the point of difference once again.
Magesi - Kgomotso Mosadi leads all Magesi players in goal contributions but has struggled of late. The winger will need to get firing towards the back end of the season if his side is going to stand a chance of staying in the Betway Premiership.
