LaLiga continued its commitment to growing women’s football across Africa by supporting the participation of two young South African players at the 10th edition of the Tximist Cup, an international youth girls’ football tournament hosted in Gipuzkoa, Spain.
The players Ntokozo Paradzayi and Okarabile Ramogayana, were selected through the Shaka Easter Cup, delivered by Shaka Sports in South Africa. Through the collaboration between Tximist Foundation and LaLiga Through its office in Africa, the girls travelled to Spain for a week-long football development experience that included training with Real Sociedad, institutional engagements and participation in the tournament’s U17 category.
This year’s participation continues a growing connection between the Tximist Cup and African women’s football. It marks the second time Real Sociedad has welcomed players from Africa as part of this experience. Last season, two U16 players from Angola, Catiana Araujo and Sandra Ganga, took part after being recognised as Top Scorer and Best Player of the Angola National Women U17 Tournament respectively.
For the South African players, the experience represented a powerful step from grassroots football to an international stage. They had the opportunity to train in a professional environment, compete against top youth talent, and experience the standards of one of Europe’s leading women’s football development platforms.
The delegation was also welcomed in Donostia-San Sebastián by the city’s Mayor, Jon Insausti, of the Basque Nationalist Party, EAJ-PNV, underlining the institutional support behind the tournament and its growing international reach.
The 10th edition of the Tximist Cup brought together a strong mix of leading youth academies and international clubs across the U14 and U17 categories. Participating teams included Real Sociedad, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Sporting CP, VfL Wolfsburg, Manchester United, Deportivo Alavés, SD Eibar, Hammarby and Queens Park Ladies, creating a competitive environment shaped by different football cultures, coaching approaches and playing styles.
“The initiative forms part of LaLiga Africa’s broader ambition to connect African football talent with international development platforms,” said Tresor Penku, Managing Director of LaLiga in Africa. “The Tximist Cup gives players the opportunity to train, compete and learn in an elite environment, while also seeing what is possible for their future. LaLiga aims to continue building opportunities for young female players from Africa to gain exposure, confidence and experience that can inspire the next generation.”
