Orlando Pirates cruised past Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila of the ABC Motsepe League to advance to the second round of the Nedbank Cup with a 4-1 win at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
Last year’s finalists will advance to the round of 16 as they attempt to complete a clean sweep of domestic cup competitions, having already won the MTN8 and the Carling Knockout.
The amateur side from Venda, who play in the country’s third tier, managed to get a goal against the Soweto Giants, but could not compete with Pirates’ quality.

Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou gave first starts to Andre de Jong and Mpho Chabatsane, while Melusi Buthelezi started in goal and the in-form Relebohile Mofokeng was rested.
The Buccaneers were awarded a penalty in the eighth minute as Oswin Appollis was brought down by Sithembiso Ngobe, who caught Appollis’s boots just inside the area.
De Jong was handed the ball and slotted the penalty kick into the bottom right corner to give his side the lead in the 10th minute.

The away side doubled their lead in the 17th minute. Keletso Mashiane’s clearance went only as far as Thalente Mbatha, who fired a long range effort.
His shot took a big deflection off of Slindokuhle Mponzo and goalkeeper Lebohang Mohale was rooted to the spot.
Mbatha looked to add another goal from range in the 28th minute, but his attempt to find the bottom left corner was saved.
Ngobe made-up for his early indiscretion by pulling a goal back for TTM in the 39th minute.
The former TS Galaxy and Chippa United defender snuck the ball past Buthelezi at the near post from a free kick, finding the bottom left corner with a well placed strike.

SUPER SUB SCORES IN DYING MOMENTS
Masindi Nemtajela missed a golden chance to restore his side’s two goal lead in the 48th minute.
Mbatha’s pass looking for substitute Patrick Maswanganyi was blocked, spilling into Nemtajela’s path. However the midfielder missed from in front of goal, putting his shot over the bar.
In the 50th minute, Ouaddou’s halftime changes produced results as Maswanganyi netted in his fifth minute on the pitch.
He combined with Yanela Mbuthuma on the edge of the area with a simple one-two, before slotting the ball past Mohale.
Tshakhuma had a rare opportunity in the 66th minute, as Slindokuhle Mponzo attempted to volley the ball from the edge of the box, but could not keep his effort down.
In the 72nd minute, Hotto crossed a dangerous ball into the box but Mbuthuma’s first touch let him down and his scrappy effort was pushed wide by the goalkeeper.
Msendami was denied a first goal for his new outfit in the 85th minute, thanks to some great defending as Chabalala denied the Zimbabwean international with a sliding block.
Substitute Sipho Mbule got his name on the scoresheet in the dying moments of his first competitive game since the Africa Cup of Nations.
The midfielder took one touch before unleashing a strike from outside the box, burying the ball in the bottom left corner.
