Following a frustrating draw with Richards Bay in their latest Betway Premiership encounter, Kaizer Chiefs will now take on a highly-competitive Siwelele outfit at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday with the Soweto giants keen to re-enter the winning column.
Kick-off is at 5:30pm (CAT, GMT+2).
CURRENT FORM
Despite less than favourable results in their last two games, Chiefs remain among the unbeaten teams in the Betway Premiership this season, sitting in third position after four matches.
After wins against Kruger United and Sekhukhune United to start the season, Amakhosi’s winning momentum came to a halt with subsequent draws against Mamelodi Sundowns and Richards Bay.
Chiefs’ 2-2 stalemate with the Natal Rich Boyz on 26 August included numerous talking points, one of which was goalkeeper Brandon Petersen’s costly mistake that led to their opponents scoring an easy goal.
While Chiefs operate at the top end of the table, Siwelele will go into the game sitting in 14th position after accumulating only two points so far.
The Bloemfontein-side last saw out a 1-1 home draw against Chippa United, with their only other point coming from a 2-2 stalemate with TS Galaxy in the first game of the season.
Sandwiched between those results are back-to-back losses against Milford FC and AmaZulu, which saw Siwelele slump further down the standings.

WHAT WAS SAID
Speaking ahead of the game, Chiefs attacker Etiosa Ighodaro expressed that Siwelele will look to make the game a physical contest but reiterated that the Glamour Boys are more than ready for the challenge.
“Preparations are going well. We weren’t satisfied with getting only one point in our last game and we are working hard to make sure we don’t slip up on Sunday,” Ighodaro said.
“Siwelele play aggressively with a lot of commitment, so we are ready for their physicality, but we believe in ourselves and our own ability to come out on top.”
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Kaizer Chiefs: Brandon Petersen – After committing a blunder that led to Richards Bay scoring in their last game, Petersen could well be seeking redemption. Known for his agility between the sticks, much of Chiefs’ defensive solidarity and composure will rest on the goalkeeper’s shoulders.
Siwelele: Grant Margeman – As the heartbeat of Siwelele, Margeman will once again face a huge task against a Chiefs outfit that often looks to hold onto the ball. While he is capable of breaking up play in the middle of the park, Margeman also poses a goal threat with the ability to shoot from range.
