With the keenly anticipated MTN8 tournament on the horizon, Kaizer Chiefs will mark their return to the tournament following a two-year absence when they take on Golden Arrows in the quarterfinals at the FNB Stadium on Sunday evening.

A third-place finish in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign ensured Chiefs a place in the current MTN8 tournament for the first time in two years, while Abafana Bes’thende secured sixth position at the end of May.
The Glamour Boys boast an illustrious history in the showpiece, bagging a record 15 titles from 21 final appearances, the most of any team in the country.
With rich stock in South African cup competitions, Chiefs will likewise hope to make an impression in the league after they commenced their campaign with a 3-1 win over Kruger United at the Mbombela Stadium last Saturday.
Arrows, on the other hand, started their season with a 0-0 draw with Chippa United at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday.

Kaizer Chiefs: Wandile Duba – The 22-year-old will head into this weekend’s match beaming with confidence after netting a brace against Kruger as a second-half substitute. While Chiefs are gearing up for a new system under Fernando Da Cruz, Duba could well be a vital cog in the new Chiefs mentor’s plans for the season.
Golden Arrows: Nhlanhla Zwane – Sitting in the middle of the park for Arrows, Zwane will be tasked to stop a new-look Chiefs midfield that appear to enjoy holding onto possession. As the heartbeat for Arrows, much of their success in transition will lay at the feet of the 26-year-old.

In reflection of Chiefs’ progress at the start of the season, Da Cruz reiterated his desire to fully implement his philosophy, of which he believes his players are enjoying.
“We are in the process of implementing our game model, which the players enjoy and are working hard at understanding the way we want to play,” Da Cruz said.
“We have only played two games, which have gone well, yet we have a long season ahead and will always continue to work hard at improving.”
