Kaizer Chiefs will look to end their sub-par run of form as they face Richards Bay at the Richards Bay Stadium on Tuesday.
Kick-off is at 7:30pm CAT.
CURRENT FORM
Both sides are in desperate need of a result midweek.
The Natal Rich Boys have failed to claim a victory in their last three outings in all competitions, losing two games and drawing one.
Following their exit from the Nedbank Cup at the hands of provincial rivals AmaZulu, they managed a goalless draw with the struggling Orbit College in the league.
Richards Bay currently sit 12th on the Betway Premiership log with 20 points taken from four wins, eight draws and six losses.
Kaizer Chiefs fell to fierce rivals Orlando Pirates 3-0 in the Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium on Saturday in embarrassing fashion.
AmaKhosi have now lost four of their last five games in all competitions, including their last three on the trot.
The loss at the weekend saw them fall to fifth on the league standings with 30 points taken from eight wins, six draws and three losses.
Now 11 points off the top of the table, the Glamour Boys will be looking to end their poor run of form and bounce back in style.
In the first meeting between the two sides this season, Chiefs emerged as winners with a 1-0 victory at FNB Stadium, courtesy of a strike from GastĂłn Sirino.
TEAM NEWS
AmaKhosi will be without experienced centre back Zitha Kwinika for the fixture as he is suspended after picking up a fourth yellow card in the Soweto Derby at the weekend. With Given Msimango out injured, the club’s troubles in their backline continue.
WHAT WAS SAID
Speaking after his side’s Soweto Derby loss, Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze believes his team need to replicate their performances from the first half of the season.
“We need to remind ourselves, our players, what has worked in the first half of the league and probably come back to the basics of football - how well we defended, if we don’t score, don’t concede, things like that. It’s the only way to go forward.”
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Richards Bay - Moses Mthembu has been an integral part of the Natal Rich Boys’ attack this season. Having registered three goals and one assist in the league, he will be looking to end his side’s dry spell in front of goal.
Kaizer Chiefs - Ethan Chislett has impressed in his first two appearances for AmaKhosi. The midfielder can operate in the middle of the park and in wide areas and has turned heads with his vision and passing ability. He will be looking for his first goal contribution for the club on Tuesday.
